Thanks to a new innovative game mode, fortnite players will soon be able to save lives rather than ending them.
A new creative game mode is coming to Fortnite where you’re going to be saving others instead of competing to be the lastplayer(s) standing. Details on how Liferun actually works are a bit thin for now, but players must assume the role of “International Red Cross heroes racing around the globe in four real-life missions to save lives instead of destroying them.”
Liferun will debut at PAX South, in San Antonio, Texas, from January 17-19. If you’re attending, you’ll be able to play it, and Twitch star Ben “DrLupo” Lupo will be among those streaming from the event on Liferun. It seems like a nice twist to the standard structure of Fortnite. The Mode was developed by Team Evolve in collaboration with the International Red Cross.
Epic CEO Tim Sweeney recently suggested that Fortnite is developing into more of a platform, with the company expected to deliver “more effective Fortnite Creative tools so that developers beyond Epic can do the sort of things with the game that we can only do right now.”
Modes such as Liferun seem to form part of that vision, and it’ll be interesting to see what else creators whip up in the future as Epic expands the toolkit.
